sn0wbreeze v2.9.8/2.9.9/2.9.10/2.9.11/2.9.12/2.9.13/2.9.14

What is New?

  • 2.9.14: After Cydia's mishap with aptickets from 6.0 --> 6.1.2 (causing soft-dfu loops), sn0wbreeze now includes an apticket validation. It will verify the apticket after browsing for iOS5+ blobs in iFaith mode.
  • 2.9.14: Added tethered support for A4 devices on iOS 6.1.3 (3GS old bootroms are untethered as usual).
  • 2.9.13: Ugh. More rootfs bug fixes.
  • 2.9.12: Finally fully fixed iPhone3,2 limera1n payload injection issues.
  • 2.9.12: Fixed root filesystem partition re-sizing issues on 5.x.x/6.x.x.= (again :p).
  • 2.9.11: Fixed bug with Cydia having "compatibility-issues" with the untether package on 6.1.2.
  • 2.9.10: Added Apple TV 2 iOS 5.2 sandbox fix. (thanks @nitoTV!)
  • 2.9.10: Added iOS 6.1.2 support for 3GS/A4 devices (as usual).
  • 2.9.9: Fixed issue with device not showing up in iTunes/xcode.
  • 2.9.9: Fixed bug when building iPhone3,2 (iPhone 4 GSM-Rev2) IPSW.
  • 2.9.9: Apple TV 2 bug fixes.
  • 2.9.9: Now adds evasi0n untether directly to Cydia (for future updates).
  • Added 5.2/6.0.x/6.1 untethers provided by evad3rs
  • Added iOS 6.1 support for iPhone 3GS, and A4 devices.
  • Fixed Hacktivation issues on 6.0.x.
  • Fixed some iFaith mode bugs.

    • Downgrading:

  • Use iFaith mode after selecting/downloading the appropriate IPSW for your device. You will then be prompted to browse for SHSH blobs for the IPSW you have selected. 
  • Remember to enter a PWNED DFU state with sn0wbreeze's iREB button in the top bar of sn0wbreeze prior to (SHIFT + Restoring) the custom signed IPSW!


    • A5(X)/A6(X) Support?:

    As stated many times in the past, sn0wbreeze cannot be updated to work on A5(X)/A6(X) devices until a low level exploit in DFU or iBoot is found and made public.

    A5(X)/A6(X) Baseband Preservation/Hacktivation?

    For those running A5(X)/A6(X) devices and need to preserve your baseband, there is nothing you can do at the moment. For those wanting to hacktivate, the only advice I can give is to buy the carrier's SIM (the one its locked to obviously) on ebay. The SIM does not have to be activated with the carrier to activate the phone.

    Known Bugs/Issues:

  • Windows 8 users currently need to use this workaround to run sn0wbreeze.
  • iPod Touch 2G 4.x.x restores fail (fix coming soon).

    9. I'm not sure if this helps.. I've tried the iPhone configuration utility, it used to show my device, now it doesn't, but the "identifier" field is all zeros?
      I got an app off the AppStore and it showed me my UDID. I'm not sure if that helps..

      Also, I came across this:

      UDID is the short form for Unique Device Identifier. It is a 40-character long hex value (20 bytes). The UDID is being used by developers to register devices for testing their Apps. Only on registered devices developers can run Apps that are not in Apple's AppStore yet. Also, beta firmware can be installed only on registered devices. Developers currently have 100 UDIDs they can register. The UDID can actually be changed and back again if you run this command followed by a DFU restore or else iTunes cannot read the device (corruption?). Keep a backup, you can always revert the change with the original MAC. As shown on an iPod touch 4G. Command:
      nvram wifiaddr=ma:ca:dd:re:as

    10. yea thats all good using the evasion unthether to fix the itunes issue where it does not connect but my problem is i am trying to connect to itunes so it can back up all my data from 5.1.1. otherwise the only way to do this is to set up as a new device & then i will not be able to back up my old data because it is a new device. any ideas how to do that?? the amount of time i have wasted doing all the possible & then restoring back to 5.1.1 like 4 times. why have baseband unlocks got 2 b so much drama! thnks 4 those that help to my Q!!

    12. FYI, I updated my iphone 4 GSM Baseband 4.10.01 to 6.1, hacktivated and Gevey Ultra WORKS.

      But no Imessage or push alerts... Imessage activates fine, but messages are not sent (! symbol)

    16. I used snowbreeze 2.9.8 to unlock my iphone 4 BB 01.59.00. Afterwards I unlocked it with ultrasn0w 1.2.8 ending in a situation that I had for a long time NO SERVICE and for a short time a 1-bar SERVICE alternating. In another thread I wrote that maybe snowbreeze (2.9.8) makes mistakes building the custom firmware ending in the above described situation. Is this problem solved with 2.9.9. THX in advance for your answer.

      1. Hey, i had same problem. but i solved this.
        run agein snowbreeze program same but this time select baseband preservation mode. and make same things like jailbreak. When finished you will see your baseband coming with service.

      3. Today I tried to restore+preserving baseband with Snowbreeze. Then I did a "clean" jailbreak with snowbreeze again. Still not working. Aways I see "no service" for my carrier. Sometimes one-dot-signal come and go, just for a few seconds.
        Any ideas how to solve this issue? Tks!

    25. Just used Sn0wbreeze 2.9.9 and Ultrasn0w 1.2.8 to successfully jailbreak iOS 6.1and unlock my iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom/Baseband: 05.13.04). Problems: 1. iMessage is not working. I tried to use SAM to fix it, but I keep getting a "Stockification Failure" error message. 2. Battery drains faster. Any input on these issues would be much appreciated. Thanks!

        Tenia el mismo problema. Sam: Activated pero SMS imposible.
        Solucion:
        1 copiar con ssh /var/root/Library/Lockdown/activation_records/wildcard_record.plist
        2 remontar un snowbreze 299 con iOs6.1 pero sin activacion
        3 al inicio copiar denuevo la wilcard
        3b Reboot
        4 instalar ultrasnow y sam
        5 Wildcard activated !!!

      I had a 3GS (locked, new bootrom) with 4.0.1. I „updated” it to 6.1 with snowbreeze 2.9.9 (ifaith+6.1 shsh+hacktivation). The problem is that in the end of restore in itunes the 3gs did not reboot just went dfu and stucked there. Till this, the device cannot came from dfu. Hard reset is not working. Nothing working!
      If I try to restore again itunes stops with 1600, 1601 or 1602. I tried to make 4.1 ipsw too, but sn0wbreeze cannot make it because of c:/ … /restore is not available (or smthing like that). I tried 3 cables and 3 pc but same 1600, 1601, 1602 problem. Is my phone dead? What is the problem/solution.

      Ps. I tried to make ipsw with redsnow too, but after puting to pwred dfu (ok), starting to make ipsw, when downloading ibss (or sthing like thet) it write: cannot find recovery mode device. Is this in connection with the above problem in sn0breeze?

    37. now tried with SB 2.9.11 and managed to upgrade new evasi0n 6.0-6.2 but still no luck, do not get reception. Not even with valid operator SIM. No Service after installing Ultrasn0w. Still on BB 01.59.00 and its an iPhone 4.

    38. FOR ALL THOSE HAVING "STOCK"ifying issues with SAM prefs, if your relying on ticket unlocks then do the following.
      1*Prepare IPSW with snowbreeze 2.9.11 but say "NO" to hacktivation.
      2*After Restoring Via Itunes then leave phone connected to Itunes.
      3*Afterwards Itunes warns Sim card not Supported.
      (leave the phone at the activation screen)
      4*Download Redsnow 9.15b3 then go to extras and restore your tickets.
      5*Reboot and Enjoy.

    44. I tried several times to install the sn0wbreeze ipsw but got error 1601 then 1604 a few times when I kept trying. With the exact same usb cable and the same usb port, I installed the backup restore that sn0wbreeze made before starting without any problems at all. The phone is now how I had it and backed up without any problems. So, because the same equipment installed fine with the backup, I'm not sure what went wrong with the sn0wbreeze file... iphone 3gs with 6.1.2, phone is locked to provider, but thats ok for me, so I also selected No to hacktivation. Not sure what I should try differently?

      1. 1. Upgrade of iOS possible only if you have SHSH saved in Cydia or locally
        2. Ultrasn0w does not unlock this baseband of iPhone 4
        3. Check with Gevey manufacturer. It does not work at iOS 6.x.x. Moreover, it is now a discontinued product. Google for other sim interposers.

      1. SoftBank Japan, iPhone: No way as Carrier does not provide unlocking service. IMEI unlock from gray market is as expensive as a new iPhone !

    65. Just wanted to share my experience:
      - Friend gave me an iphone he bought from his friend ALL LEGITMATELY but she couldnt remember the code to open. said it was a 3gs
      - based on assumption it was a 3gs i tried to restore via itunes which stopped at error 1015 meaning i couldn't finish and now i was in recovery mode (typical plug and itunes symbol) all the time.
      -attempted to update now from ipsw with itunes but kept getting error that it was incompatible. Turn out it's actually a 3g !!
      -got IPSW from snowbreeze and instead of using baseband preservation mode used simple mode and chose activate iphone then uploaded this file via itunes and voila works!!! hopefully this helps someone......
