iOS 5.1 now public! (A5 users beware!)

Apple released iOS 5.1 to the public today.

This post is to remind users to backup their SHSH blobs by using TinyUmbrella.

Please refrain from updating.

A5 USER WARNING:


Even if you cache your SHSH blobs for your A5 devices with TinyUmbrella, they will not be usable at this time. A loophole or DFU/iBoot level exploit is needed to overcome the iBEC apticket requirement upon restore.

If you would like to restore to 5.0.1 (9A405/9A406) anytime soon on A5 devices, I strongly suggest you do it now while Apple is still signing the aptickets.

Update: As of March 8, 2012 at 6PM [EST], Apple is no longer signing 5.0.1 (9A405/9A406)

  3. I have an iPad2 5.0.1 jailbroken!!! Is there something that i can do to hide OTA UPDATE completely or just make it UNFUNCTIONAL???? Thanks!

  4. I am on ipad2 wifi, 4.3.5, and have my blobs for 5.0.1 (and 4.3,4.3.5) from when i JB at 4.3, can I upgrade to 5.0.1 with tinyumbrella? (to sign for me) I currently cant, get either error 11 non dfu, or error 1600 in dfu :-(

    and i cant JB 4.3.5 :(

  5. I'm having this weird issue where TinyUmbrella and Cydia both say they have blobs on file for ios 5.1, but I'm on a 4s running 5.0.1... wtf?

    Do they have the right blobs? Is there a ways to make sure that I get the right blobs somehow?

  6. i have iOS 5.1 but i didn't save the SHSH Blobs is there anyway i can restore back to iOS 5.0.1. I'll be glad if there is a solution.
